By Kate Myers, on January 20th, 2012 | Features Bands today seem to be gigging more than ever, and there’s never been more proof than the story of Nashville rockers, Fools for Rowan. With over 100 gigs to their name playing major stages like Summerfest and opening for Evanescence, we caught up with the band to find out just how they’ve become so successful.
Your EPK shows that you’ve booked over 100 gigs – how have you been such a successful live band?
It’s our energy on stage that has captivated audiences and keeps the fans coming back. Plus, it really helped us in the beginning to spend a little money to put together a professional live video that shows fans and venues what we can do live. It’s helped us book many gigs we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise including opening slots for bands such as Evanescence…Halestorm…Sick Puppies and many more.

By Tess Cychosz, on January 18th, 2012 | Happenings Sonicbids and House of Blues have partnered up for another round of House of Blues New Music Nights, Powered by Sonicbids! This week, we’re hitting California with some pretty fabulous bands. Oh, and even though these rooms are usually limited to Members, most shows are free for fans.
Wednesday, Jan 18th House of Blues LA – Foundation Room Doors at 8pm. Tickets: FREE Filligar 10pm and 11:15pm | http://sonicbids.com/filligar
Hailed as “one of the best young bands in America,” Filligar is the rock n’ roll quartet comprised of the three Mathias brothers—Johnny, Pete, and Teddy—and their lifelong friend Casey Gibson. Drawing comparisons to a “young Rolling Stones” and called “the next Kings of Leon,” the band gives classic rock their own unique and distinctly modern edge. Within the past year, Filligar has headlined sold out shows at some of the most acclaimed venues in the country: NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, and LA’s Troubadour, among others. They have supported acts such . . . → Read more

This fall Sonicbids teamed up with the City Arts Fest in Seattle to help one luckySonicbids artist perform at the festival. After reviewing almost 300 submissions City Arts selected The Nameless of Portland, Oregon to perform on the opening night of the festival. Sonicbids helped The Nameless get to Seattle with a $500 travel stipend and after the festival was over I had a chance to catch up with multi-instrumentalist Stephen Pancerev to chat about the band, their trip to Seattle and their experience at the festival.
The seeds for The Nameless were planted when Stephen and vocalist Kelly Grohs met while working at the “infamous” Le Bistro Montage in Portland. “Kelly and I were co-workers for years and had rambled through a few bands together, but then I moved to Providence for 5 years and it wasn’t until I came back that I decided I wanted to A) pursue my passion in playing guitar and piano and B) do that with Kelly in some . . . → Read more
By Tess Cychosz, on December 9th, 2011 | Happenings WSM Nashville, 650 AM is the radio home for the Grand Ole Opry, which has been broadcast live over the airwaves since its inception in 1925. For their 86th birthday celebration, WSM teamed up with Sonicbids to find some great emerging talent for the festivities. Lucky for Nashville locals, The Danberrys: their music struck a chord with WSM and were chosen to participate in the big celebration. Lucky for me: I got to chat with Ben and Dorothy from The Danberrys and heard all about it.
WSM was celebrating their 86th birthday with promos that ran for 86 days – and you participated in that celebration with an on-air performance, a gig at Tootsie’s and then another The Ryman Auditorium in the same day! Was it exhausting or did the adrenaline kick in for you that day?
Ben: We were feeling great all day. Our day began with an 8:00 A.M. on air interview and performance on the legendary WSM . . . → Read more
