Katrina Stone performing at her all expenses paid gig at SXSW
What happens when a fierce red head with a smooth voice and a classy swagger mobilizes her fans to show their support in front of a national clothing brand? Well, in the case of Katrina Stone and maurices, the result was an all expenses paid gig at SXSW, a trip to gig at fancy corporate offices, an upcoming music video in L.A. completely covered and more. (Not too shabby, eh?) I had the distinct pleasure of hearing more from Katrina Stone and her experiences from winning maurices Hometown Sound.
Before we get into your latest happenings, tell me a little bit of your background.
I started singing when I was about 12. I decided I had a knack for it and studied classical, opera, and musical theater throughout high school. Somewhere along the way, I picked up piano as a means to accompany . . . → Read more
By Kate Myers, on March 14th, 2012 | Musings We’re here! On Sunday a bunch of us trekked down through turbulent skies to the epicenter of all things music and tech this week, SXSW. With banners and a weeks worth of luggage, we are ready to make this year rock. To prove it, we started the week off with a bang or should I say, a panel.
Yesterday our ceo Panos moderated a panel about Social Music Marketing with panelists from JanSport, Renaissance Hotels, HIP Digital and Deviant Ventures. The panelists talked about aligning their brands or the brands they work with and music. The key takeaway? Bands are an ideal way to reach loyal fans and brand ambassadors but it’s important for connections between brands and bands to feel authentic.
For all the details, check out this piece about the panel from Billboard. More from SXSW soon!

By Kate Myers, on February 28th, 2012 | Features Thanks to JLo’s supposed nip slip and Angie’s leg memes, the Oscars pulled in millions of viewers which is great news for not only the academy but Sonicbids members Savoir Adore. These Brooklyn natives self-described as “fantasy rock” got in on the Oscar madness as the featured download in Tide’s latest commercial.
Savoir Adore is no stranger to the spotlight. After signing to the Cantora label (home to MGMT), the band has put out two records and opened for buzz bands Oh Land and Lights.
When we found out the band was teaming with Tide and Shazam to giveaway their cover of “Pop Goes the World,” we had to catch up with Paul and Deidre to hear about how they got involved!
How’d you get connected with Tide and Shazam for the Oscar promo?
