Building Connections for a GREAT Show

Last Friday night (don’t worry I’m not going to break into a Katy Perry song) Sonicbids teamed up with local blogger Ryan Smashing Life and Boston-based Sonicbids artists to put on a free showcase in our neighborhood. Between the killer tunes of local DJs, a new found local band Magic Man and of course our faves (ok so we are a bit biased) Gentlemen Hall and Casey Desmond there was music for everyone who managed to squeeze into the venue. There was plenty of booze flowing (courtesy of Sonicbids) and free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream – clearly all you need to have a great night.

Reading this you might say, sounds cool but why share what’s happening in Brighton, MA with the world. Well, because the night was a great success and it ended up being free for fans. Here’s how:

Reach local bands
– Gentlemen Hall pulled together a great lineup of local bands on their own. Putting a bill together can be a huge asset when you are trying to get booked or just get down.

Connect with brands – They also reached out to local brands to cover the costs of food, drinks and the venue. Making connections with local store owners and bloggers can help save you costs on your next gig.

Have a good time – Put both of these connections together and you’ll have a guaranteed good time!

So while we hydrate and stretch out after a wild night of getting down, keep in mind how you can steal tips to put on a show in your town! If you’ve done something like this before, let us know by posting it in the comments![gallery]
