Five And A Half Questions With San Cisco

Written by Jeff Israel | Jul 15, 2013 02:03 PM

Austalian  rockers and Sonicbids SXSW Party alums San Cisco are releasing their first full-length US album tomorrow. We caught up with the 'Awkward' stars in the newest installment of 5 and a half questions.

1. Your cover of "Get Lucky" went viral almost immediately after it was posted (with 1.5M views since then), what made you decide on that song and were you surprised by the response it got on social media?

We all just really like the song and the album. There's no point in covering a song you don't like. We were super surprised by the reaction. No one really expected that!

2. We loved the Awkward EP and had a blast hearing those songs at our SXSW party, but we're also very excited for the self-titled debut LP that drops tomorrow (7/16). What are some of the things that you enjoyed about creating the new album .

It was great to be aiming towards a bigger body of work. Sometimes EP's can seem less rewarding. It was great seeing it all come together with artwork, sequencing, et cetera

3. Your US tour kicks off right here in Boston and takes you across the country with 15+ stops, and we want to know what things you enjoy doing/seeing/eating/experiencing here in the States that you don't normally get in Australia?

Go-Karting is so much cheaper here. There's no BBQ like Texan BBQ and almost no good mexican food in Australia. Vinyl is cheap here and there's almost always great bands playing nearby.

4. If you had the chance to record with any artist for one track on your next album (alive or dead) who would it be?

Stevie Wonder.

5. Finish this question and answer it: What is your favorite David Byrne song?

David Byrne and Brian Eno - Strange Overtones

Thanks San Cisco! Remember, San Cisco's self-titled LP comes out Tuesday, July 16th. Be sure to check it out.
