Seth Glier Leaves It All On Stage (ft. cake)

Seth Glier’s pop/folk balladry has turned all the right heads. Fresh off the release of his 2011 LP The Next Right Thing, Seth not only won an Independent Music Award but also debuted the video for his single “Walk Katie Home” on USA Today.

Humble as ever, Seth and his guitarist/confidant Ryan Hommel stopped by the Sonicbids offices to play a set over coffee and beers.

It’s immediately clear that Seth is a performer through and through, pairing his decidedly personal lyrics with sharp instrumentation on the piano, both delivered with a gutty transparency. At age 23, he’s built a career off wearing it all on his sleeve.

Ryan balances the act out nicely with harmonizing guitar work and amble stage presence. He’s also the dedicated clap farmer and his harvests are rich.

There’s a common thread of heartbreak running through many of Glier’s compositions, but luckily we were ready with the only cure: cake. A happy belated birthday to Seth, and a big thank you to both of the guys for stopping by.
