Sonicbids At The Grammys

Like you, I watched The Grammys over the weekend and reveled in the over-the-top performances and lavish fanfare of it all. I couldn’t help notice all of the Sonicbids alums making noise at the big show. So, I cracked open our Sonicbids Yearbook and got all nostalgic.

GOTYE & KIMBRA

Saying that “Somebody That I Used To Know” was everywhere last year might be doing it a disservice. In fact, if you haven’t heard that song, I'm not quite sure how you made it onto the Internet to read this blog.

NOMINATED FOR: Record of the Year [Won]; Alternative Album of the Year [Won]; Best Pop Duo / Group Performance [Won ]

SONICBIDS MEMBER SINCE: 2007 [Gotye]; 2009 [Kimbra]

NOTABLE GIGS BOOKED: International Songwriting Competition [Gotye]; SXSW [Kimbra]

THE LUMINEERS

Despite not bringing home a statue on Sunday, it was still quite the evening for our suspender-ed friends. They performed their hit “Ho Hey” and turned The Grammys into a sing-a-long. Unfortunately it also spawned this:

NOMINATED FOR: Best New Artist, Best Americana Album

SONICBIDS MEMBER SINCE: 2005

NOTABLE GIGS BOOKED: CMJ Music Marathon, SXSW

Don’t think I forgot about The Carolina Chocolate Drops  (members since 2005) who were nominated for Best Folk Album and Wiz Khalifa (’07) who was nominated along with Adam Levine for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance.

All in all, an excellent showing from some of our amazing artists and I can’t wait to see what Sonicbids artists blow our collective minds at the 2014 Grammys!
