Sonicbids bands in the office! (part three)

Family of the Year is a band that’s getting quite a bit of buzz these days. They played our SXSW party this year, opened up for Ben Folds at the Boston Pops back in October, and are now on a tour opening for Gold Motel. On said tour, we had the privilege of inviting the band for a short set at the Sonicbids office!

The band played a short acoustic set as a sneak preview for their gig later that night at Harper’s Ferry here in Boston. I was into their tight vocal harmonies and the mellow vibe of their acoustic renditions of their songs – a great, relaxing way to end a Monday at work. Not that their typical live show is any less friendly; IndiePit.com considers their album “like a toasty mitten around a frosty hand…they give us warm comfort.” I wholeheartedly agree with that. “Let’s Go Down” and “Stupidland” are two personal favorites of mine, and I’d highly recommend checking them out.

If you missed the live stream, we actually recorded it – it’s available here for your viewing pleasure. Check out our Facebook page here for some more photos from the set, as well as a live clip of “Stupidland” on our YouTube page. Finally, be sure to check out their EPK at www.sonicbids.com/familyoftheyear!
