Paris Blues Society - The Paris Blues Society is searching for the band that will represent them in the Blues Foundation’s 28th International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. The Paris Blues Society’s Memphis or Bust 2011 Regional Blues Challenge will take place at Buffalo Joe’s Pub in Paris, Texas on Saturday, October 15, 2011. This will be the third year for the Paris Blues Society to producing the event. The deadline to submit is Sep. 10th.
Independent Music Fest Nashville - The Independent Music Fest is a gathering of independent musicians from all levels of the industry. They will select 3 Sonicbids artists to attend the festival with no registration fee. The Independent Music Fest combines performing artists who are in search of songs with songwriters who are in search of songwriters to pitch their music to. The deadline to submit is Sep. 15th.
Water for Children Music Fest - American Festivals provides a wide variety of entertainment and on September 24, 2011 they will join with San Diego City College to present the Water for Children Awareness Music Festival, near the historic Balboa Park in San Diego. The entertainment falls into a mix of different genres. American festival and the San Diego City College is looking for both music and non-music (magicians, comedians, hypnotists, etc.) performers for several different on campus opportunities throughout the festival. The entire event will benefit the San Diego Children’s Coalition. Bands performing are competing in a Battle of the Bands Contest to win a 1st place cash prize of $1,000. The deadline to submit is Sep. 15th.
Florence Winter Folk Festival - The 10th Annual Florence Winter Folk Festival is now accepting applications. The festival will be held in January 14-15, 2012. It includes acoustic music, arts & crafts, food, demonstrations, jam sessions, and workshops. Performances are located in a world-class 450-seat auditorium and in other venues in the community. The festival will have a total of 8 performers in addition to the headliners. Each performer is expected to perform up to two sets of up to 60 minutes in length. Selected artists may sell CDs and will be paid an honorarium of $500. Lodging can also be provided if necessary for selected artists. The deadline to submit is Sep. 15th.
BoB Quarterly - BoB is a seasonal event celebrating up-and-coming New York music put on by music fans. To add some fun and value for the bands, there is a competition element to the event. Bands can win a free mastering session at Sterling Sound, equipment from The Guitar Center, and exposure in the Village Voice. Fans can win prizes, too, including drink tickets, gift certificates from restaurants and music venues and more. Each band is paid 30% of their door (tickets are $10-$15) and plays a full 1/2 hour set. The deadline to submit is Sep. 17th.
