Boston Rocks

Although it sometimes seems fashionable to complain about your local music scene today I'm feeling pretty jazzed about the one I'm in.  Last night I went to the Rock n Roll Social which is a monthly networking event for Boston's rock music community, where bands can mingle with local djs, venue bookers and other music industry folks (how cool is that!?).

I was there to plug my band Oranjuly's Cd release show, July 2 @ Middle East Downstairs (still in promo mode ; ) and ended up finding a photographer who was interested in shooting our set.

I also had a chance to catchup with and get some feedback from several Sonicbids artists including  Muy Cansado Jessica Prouty, This Blue Heaven, and The Lights Out. Though I'm often getting feedback about Sonicbids from artists via email, Twitter, blog comments and phone calls I much prefer face to face conversations over a beer.

If that wasn't enough after the Rock Social ended about 30 of us drifted to a nearby recording studio to help The Lights Out record some hand claps and background vocals. It was like the Boston local rock scene's version of We Our The World.

All in all a pretty fun Tuesday night.
