Find me on:
When legendary record producer Ron Nevison approached us to help him hunt for new talent, we jumped at the chance to help him out. Ron’s credits include The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Bad Company, Barbra Streisand, Jefferson Starship, Chicago, Styx, Heart, Damn Yankees, Thin Lizzy and more. What artist wouldn’t want the chance to work with him in the studio? And now, here’s your chance to do just that by submitting here now. We can guarantee it’ll be a great experience. But don’t take our word for, check out this Q&A we did with Sonicbids artist Joseph A. Peragine on his experience:

Why did you submit to this opportunity?

Joe: I had never worked with a producer before and I wanted to see what it was all about. I am always up for trying and learning new things that can further my knowledge in the music business.

How did you prepare for your session with Ron Nevison?

Joe: Ron and I had been in contact and agreed upon a budget that was within my means. After getting my finances in line and choosing the songs from my EPK that we were going to work on, through phone conversation, Ron walked me through everything, step by step, that we were going to do and how we were going to do it. He left no stone unturned. I then bought a hand held video camera and gave myself a crash course in filming and editing so I could document my recording experience in Hollywood with him. It was a lot of fun to learn.

Tell us a bit about your overall experience with him.

Joe: Ron was really great to work with. And the whole team that he assembled for our project was great to work with as well. We recorded in the top studios in the world, with the top engineers in the world, with the best equipment in the world, and with the top musicians in the world. And the cool thing was that Ron and everyone involved were as eager to please me and give me the final product that I wanted as much as I was eager to please and impress them. It was a great working relationship. Ron was also a great communicator. He always answered my calls and emails very quickly and always had my best interest in mind. That in itself made me that much more enthusiastic about the whole project. I really feel that I went into this whole project meeting new people to work with and not knowing what to expect. I feel like I came out of the whole thing with some new friends!

Did working with Ron have an effect of your career? How so?

Joe: Absolutely. People in the business take me a lot more seriously now that I have some greatly produced recordings by a world-class producer. In the beginning, I was the one seeking out the opportunities. Now, I’m finding that opportunities are starting to seek me. However, that doesn’t stop me from submitting to most things I can. To me, a career is like building blocks. With every small success and goal achieved, you can build greater successes and set bigger goals. I feel that my recordings with Ron are definitely something I can build great successes off of for a long time to come. It was time well spent.

Can you give some advice to other artists looking to take advantage of this kind of opportunity?

Joe: Go in with an open mind and have realistic expectations. There are no private jets or record deals. Set yourself a budget for your project and expect to get a top quality, professional product in return. Nothing less. Listen and soak up as much knowledge as you can. Ask lots of questions. The experience alone is worth all the while. You will be surrounded by the top professionals in the business. Be respectful and open-minded and you will get respect and open-mindedness in return. And most importantly… have fun! This opportunity may only come once in your lifetime!

The deadline to submit is March 4, 2011. If this experience piques your interest, take a chance and submit here.
