Find me on:
The Sweeps are an incredibly catchy trio who are all about producing their own brand of melodic, but aggressive indie rock. You’re practically guaranteed to be tapping your toes and humming the lyrics in your head after the first listen. With over 225 live shows played, appearances on WGN and local radio, you’ll be hearing more from these guys soon. We recently had the chance to chat with vocalist/guitarist Bob about the bands hopes for listeners, on-demand music, and where you can see them next.

What do you hope listeners will get from your music?

We love what we do and want to convey that fever through our music. There is an energy and passion in every song we write. Every song is crafted to help release that stowed up energy every one has inside.

What’s the best gig you ever played?

Our album release show earlier this year was one of the most memorable and exciting shows we have played. We packed the Double Door in Chicago with hundreds of our closest friends, family and fans. The lineup was perfect and showcased the best of what Chicago has to offer in the indie rock world.

What’s your prediction for the next big advancement in how we find/listen to/share music?

Everything will be going the way of "rental" or "on-demand". Services that offer listeners to stream any song/album for monthly or yearly subscription fee's. Eventually there will be a flooded free-market of bands/artists/labels all competing to come up with the next best way to share their music/art with more people. Distribution and exposure is starting to be placed firmly on the individual artists shoulders.

What’s your favorite way/tool/site for you to interact with your fans in the digital age? Do you recommend anything to other artists?

There are many web and social sites built with musicians and artists in mind. Sonicbids has been a great tool for finding new opportunities. Not only shows at popular local clubs, but also radio/TV, festival and corporate opportunities we normally would not be exposed to. Facebook and ReverbNation are the other two sites we utilize to help share with our fans. These sites make it very simple to interact with fans and friends and be able to share not only our, but also their thoughts, pictures and experiences. All of these are great tools for promotion and exposure.

What’s your next big gig coming up? When/Where?

The Sweeps will be sharing a bill with The Blackbox Revelation and rock legends The Meat Puppets at the Double Door in Chicago 11.11.11. A limited amount of tickets are still available at http://www.doubledoor.com/event/54481/.
