Unraveled, the downtown LA-based apparel brand for independent music, will host the first Unraveled Music Festival on Thursday, February 13, 2014 during the monthly DTLA Art Walk. Sponsored by Sonicbids, the DTLA Art Walk, and popular culture blog and city guide Flavorpill, the Unraveled Music Festival will bring multiple live music performances by independent artists to independently owned downtown LA businesses.
Launched in May 2013 in Boston’s Innovation District by Unraveled Founder & Art Director Farida Amar, and relocated to downtown LA in August 2013, Unraveled has been consistently powered by a team of independent artists, designers, curators, and content creators working together to tell the stories behind the independent creative process. Unraveled primarily does this by selecting lyrics from a list of carefully curated independent musicians and incorporating them into graphics, which are then printed on T-shirts known as Unraveled Originals. The brand now boasts a roster of 79 artists across North America, South America, and Europe, 23 of which are based in California.
The festival hopes to bring a fresh wave of interest and innovation to the DTLA art and music scene by partnering with local business owners and creating unique music, art, and social experiences for patrons to enjoy. The festival venues include popular DTLA hair salon the Curt Darling Salon, contemporary men’s wear retailer Beautiful Fül, avant-garde spirits bar Pattern Bar, and experiential technology installation studio and gallery Machine Inspired Art. Each venue will host featured Unraveled artists covering an eclectic range of genres, including hip-hop, punk, indie pop, psychedelia, R&B, electronica, math rock, and more.
The Unraveled artists will perform between 7 PM and midnight, depending on the venue. RSVP here to guarantee entrance to specific venues, as capacity will be regulated.
