The world-renowned CMJ Music Marathon is New York City's largest music festival, attracting more than 120,000 music professionals, artists and music enthusiasts to the City every autumn.CMJ Music Marathon features 1,400+ artists performing live in over 80 of New York City's greatest music venues October 15-19, 2013. For this week's shout-out we highlighted four Sonicbids artist performing at CMJ.

Island Boy

Island Boy is dope.  Period.  Hailing from San Diego, California IB is weaving complex and lush electro-pop soundscapes which take you away to someplace magical that you never want to come back from.  Check out his tracks "Heart Attack", "On The Rise", and "Unrequited Television Love" for the perfect Autumn soundtrack for watching the leaves change and walking around on a beautiful day.  Oh, and he's playing our CMJ party so BOO-YAH.

Big Tree

Have you ever wished there was a soundtrack to a Californian sunset? Well there is, Big Tree has you covered.  This Berkeley, California 5 piece creates an indie rock groove that crashes over you like the waves of the pacific.  They’re a classic, toe tapping crew with two full length records under their belts.  One of which includes my personal favorite track This New Year.  They’re bringing the west coast to CMJ this week.  Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

Poor Young Things

Toronto's Poor Young Things want you to Blame It On The Good Times. That's the hit off their debut EP of 2012's Let It Sleep. The good times have continued to roll with PYT's full-length effort The Head. The Heart. The End. It's an album chock full of soaring vocals over guitar hooks so catchy that they never quite leave you. These guys are fresh off a  Sirius XM Emerging Artist of the Year nomination and are a band to keep your eyes and ears on.

Kandle

I hate making band comparisons, but I will say that it's a great way to grab someone's attention so here goes-- What do you get when you mix the dreamy vocals of Mazzy Star with the gritty riffs of The Black Keys? You get Kandle, the 21 year old Canadian songstress who is sure to turn a few heads at this year's CMJ Music Marathon. I take one listen to her single "Know My Name" and you'll immediately be hooked.
