In June 2010, Sonicbids announced its partnership with Musician's Friend to provide No Cost Gig Listings on our website. The hope was to provide musicians with hundreds of new opportunities without burdening them with submission fees.
“We have to meet the needs of all artists,” said Panos Panay, Founder and CEO of Sonicbids, of the new venture. “We believe adding No Cost Gig Listings to our paid Gig Listings will make our promoter and artist offerings even stronger and make it easier for bands to get gigs.”
Musician's Friend sponsors each No Cost Gig Listing and artists can use their Sonicbids account to search No Cost listings available in their area or all over the world.
Since then, Sonicbids has created hundreds on No Cost Gig Listings, and these listings now make up half of the total listings on the site. Sonicbids has used its network of promoters to bring artists gig opportunities at famed venues like The Knitting Factory in New York City, who just recently booked 30 Sonicbids artists, to huge festivals like Virgin Mobile Freefest at no cost to artists.
And artists are already seeing major success. Recently, the band Left Me Bashful landed a headlining slot at Mercury Lounge in New York City through a No Cost Gig Listing. Left Me Bashful formed just this past year, and had been taking to the venue circuit to get their name out. With simple and sweet melodies, their sound started to catch on. After hearing about our partnership with Musician's Friend, the band decided to take a chance and apply to one of the No Cost Gig Listings on the Sonicbids site.
“It was a great chance to get our band, relatively new, to play in an awesome room by a reputable promoter,” said singer/guitarist, Phil Vicario. “Getting the Mercury Lounge gig was amazing. It’s such a great venue, and we were so happy to be the headliner.”
Phil continued, “Submitting to No Cost gigs for live shows is great for both venues looking for new talent and new independent bands wanting to get booked on a bill with reputation.” With their first success under their belt, the band hopes to continue their streak with more No Cost submissions.
And with hundreds of listings, artists are seeing more and more success everyday. So, get in on the action and check out No Cost Gig Listings, brought to you by Musician's Friend, here.
