Blush Looks to Turn Hometown Heroism Into a New York Showcase

Now that's the kind of performance photo that any performer would give up their right nipple to get. Thankfully, Blush found their way to the main stage with their abdominal symmetry intact.

The Swiss four piece, who hail from Basel, have been touring heavily since the 2010 release of their LP Traces in the Snow. Their mixture of swinging rock sparkle and English-language lyricism sets them up nicely for international attention.

But it was in their native Switzerland, at OpenAir St.Gallen 2011, that they were selected to play the main stage alongside TV on the Radio, Elbow, Hurts and Linkin Park.

"After the concert we [received] a lot of good feedback from the people in the audience and from people backstage," said Blushguitarist Marcel Huber. "It was mind blowing."

That performance caught the eye of AVO Session, who brought blush home to Basel to perform in front of more than 1,000 Swiss fans on November 11th.

"We have a good pace at this moment," Marcel said of Blush's recent success, "we have lots of radio airplay, we played several concerts in Switzerland and we have a brand new album out."

Right now the band is working on new material and hoping to bring their music to European and American audiences. To that end, the Blush gang are hoping to perform at CMJ 2012 next year in New York.

Marcel can see it all now.

"Our new record should be out…the release party in New York...would be the greatest for Blush!"
