Gentlemen Hall & Spiritual Rez @ the Middle East

This past Friday, a few of us got together after work and between unhealthy amounts of whiskey and making a solid case for why I should never dance in public, managed to catch a badass show at the Middle East (Cambridge, MA) with our good friends Gentlemen Hall and Spiritual Rez. Both bands were on point and tore the place apart! Thanks again for a great time guys, and props to Jess Ica for the awesome photos!

You may have noticed them as one of our Spotlighted artists last week, but if you’re not already familiar, Gentlemen Hall has been blowing up lately! In the past year they’ve put out a self-released EP, won a VMA for MTV’s Best Breakout Artist in Boston, and have kept up a steady repertoire of gigging throughout New England and beyond. They’re currently in the studio working on material for their debut album with esteemed producer Earl Cohen, some of which they unveiled on Friday. Our friends at TeaParty Boston were in the house as well. They’re much better at this writing thing than I am (not to mention better looking), so check out a recent blurb they did on Gentlemen Hall here. Also, check out a recent write-up on the guys from Billboard.com.

Up next was Spiritual Rez. If you’re from Boston, these reggae stalwarts should need no introduction. They’ve been going strong for years, touring all over the States and the Virgin Islands. With a full-length album on the way, as well as another tour of the Virgin Islands in the works, you can expect to hear a lot more from these guys. If you get the chance to catch ‘em live, don’t miss out, Spiritual Rez is guaranteed to rock the party!

Lastly, here’s a pic of the Sonicbids crew towards the end of the night (clearly).
