Believe it or not, there are many ways to go international. The State Department and USO are two ways to get there.
The United States Department has two different initiatives for musicians looking to get overseas. These are great opportunities for independent artists.
- American Music Abroad - This is a pretty immersive program that runs from 4-6 weeks. Musicians will travel to multiple countries, focusing on younger and underserved audiences that may not have a lot of opportunities to see American music. While there you will play public concerts, perform with local musicans and more. LEARN MORE
- Arts Envoy - This is a shorter program than the AMA and can last for a week at a time. Much easier to fit into your touring schedule! Arts Envoys include more than just musicians, but bands will be expected to perform and mentor young people. LEARN MORE

United Service Organization - The USO has been providing entertainment for US military overseas since the 1940's. Is it for you?
The Who Tours section breaks down the typical USO performers. Generally they are artists on a larger scale. If that doesn't fit your criteria, they also recommend Armed Forces Entertainment as an avenue to take.
They also have a complete rundown of USO Tours that's chock full of interesting details. Everything from length of the average tour to lodging details is handled.
Sonicbids also has a ton of international gigs. You can check them out on our Find Gigs page. Just make sure to adjust your location search to International.
