Sonicbids: Where did your band name come from?
Evan: We decided on the name Indubious for various reasons. Upon first look, or the first time you hear it, it has the word DUB in it. It also has the word DUBI “doobie” in it. These words have a strong imagery and style to them which can bring people in on a superficial level. Delving deeper into the meaning and symbology of the word reveals a much more significant and powerful energy. Words are the vessels upon which ideas and thoughts flow, and our entire reality is crafted and shaped by our ideas. This is the thought behind the sacred sanskrit symbol of OM or AUM, the primordial sound that vibrated the universe into existence. In the scientific/quantum realms, we discover that matter is created through different frequencies of vibration, further strengthening these spiritual concepts. Rasta forwards these same principles through the idea of “Word, Power, Sound”. INDUBIOUS means without doubt, or sure of oneself. Our official band motto is “Live Indubiously” which is living without fear or doubt and a certainty that we are all here for a purpose and guided by a higher power. It is through faith and love that we all can make a lasting positive impact on the planet. We are here to learn, understand, and teach love. Life is a chance to give, and living indubiously is taking advantage of that opportunity.
Sonicbids: What advice would you give to bands who are trying to increase their fan base?
Evan: Set your intention. Why are you making music? What do you want people to know? Once you get all the fans and fame and fortune, what next? It is not so important the vehicle you are driving as it is where you are trying to go. Whether it be art, journalism, music, sports, or web design, when you have a purpose and spirit behind your work, it comes together much more effortlessly, more people are inclined to help you, and fans are more drawn in energetically. What you put into it, you get out of it. If you are intending on helping people, people will want to help you. Another very important thing is to focus on personal connections and relationships. Its the people in the industry that you build a connection with that will want to help you and your project. I can’t tell you how many times we have booked opening bands for our shows who’s music we didn’t even like, just because we liked them personally. The last thing I would like to touch on is the importance of developing a quality product. Without a good album, you are spinning your wheels. People need something to take home with them from your shows or they will forget about you in a few days. Save up your money, do some crowd funding, or ask your family members to help fund a high quality product with a good producer, professionally mastered, with stunning album artwork. Its really a no-brainer, but it seems like a lot of bands try to skip this step.
Sonicbids: If you were stranded on a desert island with only ONE musician to listen to who would it be?
Evan: We would pick Vaughn Benjamin of Midnite. They have over 50 albums and are one of the most prolific bands ever, not to mention one of the most inspirational to us. We would be sure to never run out of new tunes on our private island. Where do we sign up?
Sonicbids: What was your favorite thing about performing at Gathering of the Vibes?
Evan: Of course it was great fun to play on that beautiful stage for a big crowd of new fans, but the part we really enjoy is making the personal connections and making new friends. Hanging out in the back at the family camp with all the people who put on the festival. Stephanie, Dave, Frank, Mary. Friends for life! Also hanging out with the whole Marley’s Mellow Mood crew and Andrea from Sonic Bids 
Sonicbids: How has Sonicbids impacted your music career?
Evan: The ability for us to win this contest and play at a festival of this proportion has been a huge opportunity for us. Our Facebook, twitter, and social media networks are getting way more followers trickling in. We have made some very key connections with promoters, sponsors, and artists on the east coast. If we take it all the way and go to Jamaica to record with Stephen Marley we just might write you guys into our will….
Sonicbids: If you could tell your fans one thing that they don’t know about you what would it be?
Evan: When Evton B (vocals and keys for Indubious) was in 5th grade he wrote a paper for a school project. The project was to write an essay of what your life will be like in the future. We recently unearthed this old essay from our moms closet and were shocked to discover that young Evton saw himself in the future being in a reggae band with his brother and touring the world. This was before Evton and Skip (front men and brothers of indubious) had even started playing music. Not a lot of people know that story…
Sonicbids: What’s the worst/best thing about being on the road?
Evan: People think of going on the road as this glamorous rock star kind of thing. Although there are a lot of positive aspects to it, the truth is that we all just miss our ladies and our dogs and want to go home and be able to have a home cooked meal. Eating out on the road is not always the easiest, especially if you are trying to eat healthy. The best part of touring is the love and appreciation we get from the fans. Getting to meet people one on one and shake their hands and hear stories about how our music has made an impact in their lives. You just can’t beat that feeling. It never gets old.
