When your motto is Be Everywhere, you know you need to hustle. Being everywhere and hustling is what Sean Falyon's all about. Well, that and a sick beard and amazing MC skills.

Falyon is one of the hardest working men in Hip-Hop right now, booking shows and routing tours with a DIY ethos.

We spoke with him to learn some tricks of the trade when it comes to being everywhere.

What is your best advice for someone just breaking into the game looking to do their first shows?

Bone Crusher sat me down, and at the time I thought I was the shit. I was like, “Yo hey man, you need to focus on me as your artist, let’s get it poppin.” And Bone Crusher said ,“Yo, you know what you need to do? You need to go out here and do some open mics, do some talent shows, do some showcases, get your name out there build on your craft, perfect your craft and then it will be time.”

That’s some advice I would give if you’re just breaking into the game. Focus on your craft first and building your visibility as being known for doing dope shows and sometimes people will come for you.

You’re known for booking shows all around the world. Did you have an Aha moment when everything just started clicking and you really hit your stride?

When I just realized that, ultimately promoters are just trying to fill their shows. So you wanna be that guy that has the visibility, can bring the numbers through the door and has a dope show on top of that. That’s my Aha moment. I can’t get frustrated with this, I just need to work on that on my end so that when they reach out and they wanna see the résumé and wanna see what I can do, it will be a no-brainer to book me for shows. As artists we have this entitlement thing where we feel as though we deserve this and we deserve that, but we haven’t really done anything. So when you do stuff people will start to reach out a little bit more.

What are your thoughts on show swaps?

Show swaps are amazing. I’ve swapped shows with artists in California, Chicago, St. Louis, New York, Philly, here in Atlanta, Florida, Texas, a lot of different places. One of the biggest places I ‘ve done a show swap was in St. Louis. I go back and forth there a lot because a friend, Vandalism, brought me out there. You get to get their crowd in a different aspect other than if you were to go there by yourself. You might not get the same reception. So show swaps are great, you can touch another market with somewhat of a cosign.

How important is routing your tour?

Routing your tour is very important. Promoters don’t want to pay more than they have to for your travel. And if you’re paying for your travel yourself, you definitely don’t want to pay more than you have to for your travel. I put together a tour with my business partner El Prez, an artist out of California last year with me, Shawn Chrystopher, Raven Sorvino, some artists from Texas, Hollywood Floss, Rob J, a bunch of different artists and it was a good look. We got a car in Houston and drove from Houston to Dallas, Dallas to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City back to Austin, Austin to San Antonio. It was all close, it was all driving distance, it wasn’t crazy, it didn’t wear us out as far as the driving and it didn’t cost that much on our end.

Can you tell us about #SeanFalyonBeEverywhere (#SFBE)?

My goal in life as an artist is to be everywhere mentally or physically. Sean Falyon Be Everywhere came about though when I met Cory Mo, a dope artist/producer from Houston. First night I met him, we bumped into each other at an event. Then like the rest of that week I ran into him probably 6 or 7 times at different events and he was like, “Man, Sean Falyon be everywhere.” I was like ,”Yo, I’m gonna roll with that.” So I travel. I go to different cities. I meet different people. I perform different places. I shake hands and I touch the people. And like I said, if I’m not there physically, you need to be talking about me when I’m leaving, whether it be good or bad you still talking about Sean Falyon Be Everywhere.

Describe your live show by using a brand.

As a brand, my live performance is like Samsung (laughs). I know everybody like oh why won’t you say Apple but man I feel like Samsung is everywhere. No matter how much people want an iPhone or Apple products, man Samsung is the only competition for real. So, I feel like I’m competing every time I step on that stage. I feel like I may not be that top guy, YET, but I’m gunning for the top and you’re gonna know my name and you’re gonna leave that show saying, “Yo ,Sean Falyon did his thing.”

You have an awesome beard, what is your secret?

Well I can’t give away no secrets because my beard would kill me. My beard is a separate entity all by itself. He has his own Twitter @SeanFalyonBeard so you can talk to him and ask him about the secrets but I’m not able to give that information out man. That would be caught dry snitching. All I know is that me and my beard come together to make one handsome face and we just like to keep that going.

What’s next for Sean Falyon?

Everything! I just wanna keep doing the events that I do, Spin Wednesdays in Atlanta, All Vinyl Everything in Atlanta. I just wanna do whatever I can, whatever my talents allow me to do. Definitely new music, Sean Falyon Be Everywhere 4 is coming soon. The single “Famous” is dropping very soon. I got the video “Stay Up” on MTV Jams right now, so I’m just continuing to make good music, trying to connect with fans. So if you’re paying attention to anything that I’m saying, whether you like it or you don’t like it, holla at me. I just like to connect with people and be a human being out here.
