Find me on:
Born and raised by actress Charlene Tilton and Country Music Hall of Fame member Johnny Lee, Cherish Lee is no stranger to the limelight. Cherish started performing at the age of five when she performed with Michael Jackson on his "BAD" tour. She studied musical theater while going on the road with her father and has performed with many different bands in the LA area. And she even has a slew of film credits to her name with performances in American History X and Wilde Salome. It’s quite the resume, and it’s only growing. We had the chance to chat with Cherish about growing up in the music community, her favorite gig and where you can see her next.

When did you decide to make a career/focus of music?

Because of my Papa Bear, Johnny Lee, music has always been a tremendous part of who I am. Two years ago, I decided to devote 100% of myself to music. My career. The bigger picture, if you will. I moved to Branson, Mo. where I formed a band with my brother. We played all over and built a pretty good following since there was no one else out there singing hard rock/country, putting on a bad ass show.

What’s the best gig you ever played?

I've played so many great shows from dive bars to big venues. One time we were playing a show, there were about 100 to 150 people there. I was doing my thing and rockin' out. I realized that EVERY person in the place was watching me. I had captivated a room full of strangers by doing what I love to do. I love performing and putting on a good show. That's why people go out to see live music. It's a time to let loose and just have fun!!

Back in the day, most people found music on the radio or MTV. Obviously, today there is a plethora of ways to hear about new music. How do you find new bands or artists that you like to listen to?

All of my friends are big into music and all different kinds. We're always keeping each other updated on new songs, bands and live shows.

What’s the most challenging thing about being an emerging artist personally, for you?

You know, I'm a big believer in "You can accomplish what you can see". I have BIG dreams and goals. I believe that I am on the right path and getting in front of the right people. I just signed a production deal with Flying Pig Productions and have almost finished recording my debut album. I'm honored to be writing songs with the great Kevin Fisher (Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans, Uncle Kracker and many more) and Randy Sharp (Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Dixie Chicks and many more). I guess the most challenging thing is figuring out what to do with all of my excitement and drive and figuring out how to accomplish ALL that I want. It is the coolest thing in the world hearing my songs come to life and watching them effect people. I want to be a light in this world. I want to be a dog rescue. Be a voice for those who can't be heard.

What’s your next big gig coming up? When/Where?

I will also be performing with my dad at the end of February and then off to Nashville. To find out more dates where I'll be playing, please find me on Facebook or my website CherishLee.com.
