Sonicbids bands in the office, part four!

Last week we had the treat of inviting Mem into the Sonicbids office for a killer stripped-down performance. These guys are based in Brooklyn, and have been steadily taking over the NYC club scene with sold-out performances and rave reviews. (They had actually curated a night at the Knitting Factory two nights before coming up to Boston!)

Their performance at Sonicbids was something special — they used it to premiere an entire set of brand-new material from their upcoming album, set to be released in July. It was honestly tough picking out a favorite (each song was so well put together), but I was especially intrigued by how tightly their music fit together. At the forefront was a lot of cool, intricate piano work (played by lead singer Grayson), which meshed impeccably with two layers of heavily manipulated guitars. (Guitarists Scott and Austin both had effects pedal boards larger than any I’ve seen, and they made some killer sounds with them.) Bass and drums formed a tight rhythm section, and a great show overall. We got some awesome footage and photos (courtesy of Jessica Howe), which you can check out on our Facebook page.

We recorded most of their performance, and you can check it out here! Also, check more of Mem’s music out at www.sonicbids.com/memmusic if you’re interested, and keep posted on our next gig, streaming live from the office!
