The Lumineers: Haven’t heard of The Lumineers yet? Here’s the scoop – they’re great. They’ve spent the last year building big buzz with honest lyrics and timeless Americana/folk tunes. The trio is based out of Denver and released their first EP this past March.

The Giving Tree Band: If you’re a roots fan, this one’s for you. Bringing together banjo, biolin, mandolin, base, guitar, slide and drums, this octet makes sweet folksy music in their hometown Chicago. Their latest release features their single, Circles and has landed them on various radio charts.

Filligar: Comprised of three brothers and a killer keys player, Filligar has come into their prime with good old-fashioned classic rock. Their toe tapping and get down songs are both refreshing and familiar. So you should get familiar with their 2010 release, The Nerve, which is nominated for Best Rock Album at the Independent Music Awards:

French Horn Rebellion: These days, brothers David and Robert get folks dancing in Brooklyn, but this electro-rock duo was born and raised in Milwaukee. These brothers have since gone on to work put out their LP The Infinite music of French Horn Rebellion just a few years after David produced and engineered music for MGMT. If you like to get it moving on the dance floor, then turn these boys up.
