The Perfect Electric Zoo Lineup

Those who know me understand that nothing in this entire world makes me happier than music, particularly music festivals.

I mean, whoever invented the music festival… I need to meet them.  I feel obligated to personally give them a hearty handshake and one of those cool wink/smile combos like, “Hey dude(tte), I see what you did there and totally think you are the (wo)man.”

Nowadays, there are hundreds of music festivals every year, which leaves me with continual pangs of aching FOMO and the wish I could be at every single one of them.

One of the greatest festivals I’ve ever attended is an EDM event called Electric Zoo.  Dating back to 2009, EZoo (as the cool kids call it) takes place every year over Labor Day weekend on Randall’s Island right off of New York City.  From August 30th – September 1st, 2013 approximately 110,000 attendees, 139 artists, and thousands of event staff will call Ezoo and Randall’s Island the playground of their dreams.

With Electric Zoo swiftly approaching I’ve been blasting bangers in my headphones at my desk in rabid anticipation, which has caused two office phenomena:

1) The rest of the Sonicbids crew here at HQ seem to question my sanity.

2) My heretofore underground title of Office Dance Master, a.k.a. Vroom-Vroom Party Starter, a.k.a. The Peanut Butter Kid, a.k.a. The Salad Assassin has finally been accepted above ground and now I, much like Mufasa, am the king of everything the light touches before me.  All those who want a shot at the champ can take a number.

Above all else, I am a true fan and lover of all genres of dance music so I was pleased to find a healthy mix of artists on the bill that I had and (gasp) had not heard of before.  Going to fests is not for the faint of heart and should not be taken lightly.  Just as Bobby Flay artfully balances flavor profiles in Kitchen Stadium so must you balance your personal lineup between perennial faves and up-and-comers.  Let’s take a look at how I plan on breaking up my 2013 Electric Zoo experience.
