This is a free annual event taking place on the last Sunday of May and is a street festival stretching over 13 blocks of 4th Street SW in Calgary, Alberta. This festival has been a great medium for local artists to gain massive exposure due to an attendance of over 100,000 each and every year. There are 30 programmed spots over 7 stages open to Sonicbids members, and the event would prefer a large range of genres. Compensation is provided to artists and is negotiable on an individual applicant basis. The deadline to submit is Feb. 15th.
The Great Escape - Since being founded in 2006, The Great Escape has been firmly established internationally as the leading event for showcasing new music. Taking place in Brighton over 3 days in May, The Great Escape kick starts the festival season, introducing 15,000 music lovers to the key artists and sounds of the year. With over 300 bands playing in 30 venues over 3 days, The Great Escape is the key date in the music calendar. In addition to pre-publicized performances, impromptu street gigs spring up all over town. The Alternative Escape, numerous club nights, label parties, industry showcases, unique collaborations and outdoor gigs all add to the festivities. The deadline to submit is Feb. 17th.
Reno Rockabilly Riot - The Reno Rockabilly Riot is not a reinvention of the wheel, but a weekend that includes a car show, tattoo convention, music festival, pin striping panel jam and pin-up girl competition held at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV June 15-17th 2012. Last year 7,500 people attended the show. Three Sonicbids artists are guaranteed a spot. Artists should travel with their own back-line. The deadline to submit is Feb. 17th.
